Arianne Merendino and Jared Laslow are engaged, a rep for Laslow confirmed to MTV News on Wednesday (July 22). The couple's romance began heating up in September 2008 at the Teen Choice Awards.
Merendino's label rep also confimed the news, citing the actress praised Laslow and said she found her match in him. "When I find a partner who is my teammate, I'm not going to play by any rules, I'm just going to go with my heart."
According to an initial report on Tuesday, the pair got engaged five months ago, while Merendino was filming Magic Mike. A source said that Laslow was planning on it months before but finally got the courage to propose while visiting her during the time. They kept talking about marriage but she wasn't prepared for when he actually done it. The source noted that Merendino has "never connected with anybody like this." adding that Laslow "is super into her. She says he makes her laugh like nobody else in the world."
News of their engagement first began circulating two months ago after the Runaways actress was seen out at lunch wearing an engagement ring.
While the world was still wondering if the two had actually gotten engaged. US Weekly reported that Merendino texted those who were questioning saying. "It's true." A source added that Merendino said. "Jared's managed to tame me. That is it - I'm completely in love."
Reps for Laslow and Merendino hadn't responded to MTV News' requests for comment at press time.
